The ASHM Sexual Health Check is a quality assurance accreditation provided to online sexual health services in Australia. Accredited services are checked against a range of criteria, including the types and quality of services provided, the clarity of information provided, pathways to care, and costs to patients. It is designed to ensure consumers are able to make informed choices when choosing a service.
ASHM is a peak professional body representing health workers in sexual and reproductive health, HIV and other blood-borne viruses. ASHM has worked alongside state and territory government departments to develop the framework and criteria for the Sexual Health Check.

Online organisations/businesses offering online STI testing services to Australian residents are eligible to apply for accreditation. Eligible organisations must have established legal status (e.g. under Corporations Law, Health Services Act, Trustee Act).
Applications are initially reviewed by ASHM. Recommendations are then forwarded to jurisdictional Departments of Health. Final approval is determined by ASHM.
Each application is $2000, payable on invoice to ASHM once accreditation is approved.
On approval, ASHM will notify you and provide an invoice for the accreditation program fee. Once paid, you’ll receive the ASHM accreditation program logo and logos of relevant Australian jurisdictional Departments of Health for your website.
Organisations/businesses will receive feedback on why the application wasn’t successful and can resubmit without extra cost.
